Imagine Something Different

I spent some time thinking about the future today whilst writing a proposal to work with some new partners. It's quite an exciting project but part of the application asked us to imagine what the future might be like. Oops I was thinking, I'm not great at forseeing the future, I've often been surprised by the things that I've taken for granted, but I decided to have a go anyway.

I imagined first a world where we tolerate and are tolerated, where it's okay to disagree and remain friends. Where a smile is what greets us when we meet another person and where warmth and kindness are on the menu every day. I imagined a time in the summer when its hot, light and peaceful and I remembered many times when we've shared the best and worst. Mostly I imagined that today could be a day of peaceful understanding, of generosity in spirit and of future promise-a day when we can say-this was a good day.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire worls, and all there ever will be to know and understand.
