Glacier's Path
Today was our day to drive to the east side of Glacier National Park via the Going-to-the-Sun Road over Logan Pass (6,646 ft/2,026 m). For better or for worse it was a day of clouds, rain--and mist at higher elevations--often dramatic at times, and at times a bit scary, like many high mountain roads.
I captured this view perhaps half a mile beyond the top of the pass, looking south along a valley that is a typical product of the ice age--it was almost surely formed by a very large glacier flowing down the valley. We spent the night at the village of St. Mary just outside the main eastern entrance to the park.
Backblipped on 9 September--this was the only day I did not manage to post a blip after my laptop crashed at the beginning of the trip. The map location is approximate.
