Fairytale stuff

The Les Plus Beaux Villages de France tour continues although today we took a couple of detours. One to Peyrusse-le-Roc which was a medieval village Tricia spotted on the map and turned out to be a stunning couple of towers perched on a rocky pinnacle along with a standard pretty village. The second detour was on the recommendation of the woman in the Tourist Office in Figeac who provided a route based on Figeac. This village - Marcilhac-sur-Cele - with is Abbey was the highlight. No real tourism but just wander around the small hamlet. On the Pilgim trail between Le Puy and Santiago de Compostella and so it wold have been a bustling place in those times. Now time is passing it by although still a few pilgrims passing through.
Then back to our LPBV tour with Lacapelle-Marival - most disappointing to date although an impressive castle with a lot of English connections as a family home of the Plantagenet family, Autoire - one of the prettiest settings with a small immaculate village in a cwm, Loubressac - a hill-top village looking down onto the huge castle at Castlenau captured by Henry II in 1159 and finally Carennac - where we camped and a town of red roof-tops hanging over the Dordogne river.
