The Mill

It's the cotton mill, founded in1783 by Sir Richard Arkwrright a local entrepreneur. He diverted part of the adjacent river Derwent to power the mill. Later they used coal fired steam engines and latterly oil.

The place is now a "working textile museum", to be found at the town of Matlock in Derbyshire.
