Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This beautifully restored eighteenth century smock mill in Ibstone was last properly worked in WWI but gained a new lease of life when it was fitted with mock sails for a starring role in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on the big screen.

The windmill was both home and workshop of inventor Caractacus Potts, and his children Jeremy and Jemima in the film of 1968. In 1971 it was bought by Hayley Mills and her first husband who fully restored it and has been used in 'The New Avengers' and the 1996 film, '101 Dalmatians'.

The mill is in a breathtaking location nestled in the Chiltern Hills an hour's drive from London. Privately owned so you can't get too close to it amidst rolling hills, quaint farms and woodland; it is in the most 'Truly Scrumptious' setting!
