Bow down your strong heads...
Drawn to them since they opened in April, I finally made a visit to the Kelpies in Falkirk today. And an emotional visit it was too.
Born of the marriage between the working Clydesdales of the land and the shape shifting mythical creatures of the sea, these magnificent creatures rise 30 metres up as sentinels to the new extension to the Forth and Clyde canal. As if they've always been there.
see them for yourself
The poet, Jim Carruth, has left his own mark in the ground - words that pay tribute to all the Kelpies were and will continue to be.
"Bow down your strong heads to taste the water
Stretch up your long necks to face the sun"
As I read these words I suddenly felt a sweep of emotion, a real resonance with the connection I felt to the words, the place, the Kelpies.
Bowing down my own head, stretching it when I can to face the sun. It felt like me.
Sometimes art hits me like nothing else. Reminding me how my life is lived. And how it should be lived. It reminds me I'm human. Today I felt alive.
Today outof10? A thankful 9 ❤️
