Bell-ringing
If you were a leprechaun or a fairy this might be like a rope for bell-ringing? Although as well as the rope this lovely dangly thing has the bells attached at the bottom. I don't know what this plant is; I thought it was something called 'love lies bleeding', but I've just googled it and that flower is different to this one.
Anyway, it has been a very busy day an school, with no let-up and almost no time to think, never mind capture a blip. We had a fab astronomy session after school and got out our Coronado telescope. It has a special Hydrogen-alpha filter that allows us to observe the Sun directly, as it filters out all the nasty wavelengths that would fry your eyeballs. And it was great! There is the most wonderful sunspot today, right in the middle of the solar disc, as well as a couple of other smaller groupings. All the girls got to see the sunspot and a few of them also observed a small solar flare - a good day!
Update: the Ards Man has just informed me that this is a pheasant- berry flower.
