Sport for all

One of my objections to football is that it is overwhelmingly seen as a boys game, and girls largely get excluded. This means that when people fancy having a bit of a kickaround, it invariably involves only the boys/men, because the girls and women don't know how to play and don't have the confidence to go out there and have a bash at it.

I believe that every single person should have access to playing some sport for fun, not to be the next olympic medal winner or the next Beckham but just because it is fun to get out there, and play. So here are my mates out playing football after tea on Friday. Boys only.

On saturday, all of us fancied a bit of game after tea and we had about 20 of us playing indoor hockey and it seriously is the most fun I've had in such a long time. We just played for fun of it, to run around a bit, have a laugh, pretend at being competitive, and not caring who won or lost. I wish I had that more often. There's nothing quite like it.
