In a flap

Swans run along the surface of the water, flapping their wings when they want to take off. This makes quite a racket, so you do get some warning, but you have to be quick.

Luckily, I was at the window with my phone to hand when I heard said racket, so I managed to get a few shots of this swan in flight up the river.
