Flowering Currant

Chulo the bird dog and I encountered several harbingers of spring on our hike along Maple Creek this warm sunny Valentine's Day afternoon.

This flowering red currant luxuriates along the Central Oregon Pacific rail bed near the Maple Creek trestle.

We also saw Indian plum (osso berry) in bloom and willow with bursting yellow catkins along the way.
