Sand carpet

I started out on a very interesting walk today,  I saw this sand carpet(*),  some old style rooms,  old grave sites.  Alas,  I was in possession of an outdated walk,  so from time to time I lost track of the route. Finally I decided to use my map of the area to find the shortest way back to my car,  it was getting too late to do another attempt to find the route again.  
(*) A sand carpet was often used in smaller,  poorer farmhouses,  who didn't have the money for a real carpet.  On Sunday they would use white sand to create a carpet.  I had heard of the habit,  but this is the first one I actually got to see.
