This was not a fire drill...

.... early in the evening I was alerted by the sound of the siren of several fire trucks close by - when I looked outside I saw the roof of a nearby sports hall burning bright ...... within minutes the fire fighters were on the roof and on the ladders and were extinguishing the flames ...... lots of black smoke wavered through the street - and even now, more than 3 hours later, they're still working ...... I presume next week, when the school is starting again, the pupils won't have PE for a while.......
