Out on a beautiful afternoon on one of my favourite bike rides.

This traditional road sign caught my eye. It still has the old Ridings of Yorkshire on the top. Yorkshire was divided up into three parts North Riding, East Riding and West Riding (Riding being a Norse word for a third).

I am so glad that it has not been replaced with the modern reflective signage. It did have other arms pointing to Spaunton and Lastingham along with a new addition of a footpath to Victoria Cross complete with measurements in yards but I preferred this angle.
