The Little Lyle Files

Lancaster Bombers

These are the last two airworthy Lancaster Bombers in the world, one of which is here on loan from Canada, the other of which is based in Lincolnshire.

We knew that they were coming to an airshow at Little Gransden a few miles north east of us, and that they were scheduled to do a flypast at the Old Warden Airfield a few miles to the south west of us. Therefore, I was hoping that they would pretty much fly over our garden between the two. There we were, in the garden with cameras in hand, listening for that familiar thrum, when we spotted them to the south through a gap in the trees and realised that they were giving us a wide berth rather than using the direct route.

Although I did get another couple of shots between houses of the two aircraft banking to head north but photographically they are rather spoiled by telephone cables and houses.

This is the first blip since my surgery on 14th August to reverse the ileostomy from my first surgery in March. I have had an uncomfortable few days but things are beginning to settle down, hence my motivation to get out with the camera.

Back-blipped on 11th September 2014
