Independence

Nationalism is in the air.

Yesterday, I met a Russian in the mountains. He thought what was going on in Ukraine just demonstrated people were stupid.

I told him that Scotland were to hold a referendum on independence next week. No guns, no tanks, no missiles, no deaths. Just a vote.

Today, it was Catalonia National day. Catalonia is not a nation but part of Spain though it has many of the characteristics of a nation. They celebrated their distinctiveness today in red and yellow. They want a referendum on their independence. Just a vote.

Next week, I have a vote.
