Life in the big city

Long Birthday lunch with my “bff” - our traditional place, outdoors on a perfect day, with our traditional dessert (Affogato). Loved it!! Thank you, R!

Starting our regular thursday pick up of Fiona - she has another year to go before she can go to kindergarden. But I’ve finished my “100 faces of’” series as planned so here she is, as is. :-) Today she wanted to get donuts and go to the playground. Actually 2 playgrounds. One near the donuts, one near our house. Had to be outside this glorious day for sure…. And pizza dinner here. She's delightfully happy.

In the 5 days since we have been home from the island, we have had the elevator man spend 3 1/2 hours to fix our elevator that has been broken all summer. And the refrigerator man come (the day after he was called!) and diagnose why our ice maker isn’t working. A part is coming. And the condo garage door person will be here tomorrow to look at the rough closing door. Can’t anyone else deal with this one? Welcome home! Such a different set of schedules (won’t bore you with all) —what has happened to my “quiet time” after lunch??? H and I did manage to start this lovely day with a fine row....... and a remembering of 9/11/2001.

Edit: Last year's birthday lunch was exactly 1 year ago 9/11. R had the same hat on today!
