Hamish McHamish of St Andrews

One of the world's best known cats Hamish McHamish sadly died yesterday and this evening his statue recently erected by public donations is adorned with flowers and messages.

Hamish with his own Facebook page and thousands of followers from all over the world became an institution in the town making himself at home in offices, shops , student's houses etc . He has had books written about him and his own calendars and today his Facebook page has well over a thousand messages from all over the world as the news of his passing has spread.

Thankfully I was not involved in his final minutes but I was privileged to share looking after him during his life and gave him some of his boosters - the biggest problem was finding him when these were due but usually a few phone calls round the town sufficed to find which favourite chair he was resting on!
