CannyScot's Day

Dunnotar Castle

Very misty day giving way later to warm sunshine.

Earlier this year a cousin of mine and her husband, who we had not seen for 25 years or so, got in touch through Facebook and we discovered that they lived 60 miles away in Aberdeen. We met in Dundee a couple of months ago and now we are spending a couple of days with them in Aberdeen.

It was a warm day as we travelled up and we stopped at Dunottar Castle. This is one of the iconic views in Scotland and it really lived up to its reputation.

The Castle has played a prominent role in the history of Scotland through to the 18th-century Jacobite risings because of its strategic location and defensive strength. Dunnottar is best known as the place where the Honours of Scotland, the Scottish crown jewels, were hidden from Oliver Cromwell's invading army in the 17th century.

I took several photos here, at Stonehaven and around Aberdeen. I am not able to edit and upload them today but I will link to them when we get home. I might be a day or two behind in commenting.

Have a good weekend, whatever you are doing.
