Yungang Caves

In the city of Datong now. The major draw for this area is the Yungang Caves, a series of caves with images of Buddha carved inside them. This one was around 15m tall! The caves were developed around 460AD. Surprisingly they haven't been updated as other Chinese attractions have been (Great Wall etc). They have redeveloped the area the caves are in, but mercifully have let the caves remain in their glorious old state!
