Very Old and Faded.......
.................but this is a copy of the Architects original drawing for the proposed pair of cottages which were built in 1887 as accommodation for homeless women of the village. They were extended in the 1960s or 70s and I live in the one on the left.
In it you can see the gate to which I referred on Thursday and which has been removed so that a duplicate can be made.
The original cottage had just one room plus a kitchen and an outside lavatory and coal house which no longer exist. The back garden wall was demolished and a bathroom and a bedroom were added to the rear of the property. What it was like to live in before the additions were made is hard to imagine but folk did until the 1960s!
Anni blipped - on my behalf - a picture of the place as it is now - on Saturday the 14th of February - just after I had come out of hospital and, if you care to look, you will see how little the front elevation has changed - the wall and railings to the front are still there, unaltered.
The house behind to the left was demolished and a small block of 2 storey flats plus a car park for them erected - as there are no windows or garden to the rear, I don't really notice them.
The tree to the right is no longer there and the fence has been replaced by a wall.
I was amused to notice that similar curtains to mine in the front window were envisaged even in 1887!!
More detail to be seen on large.
It's quite cool this morning - just 57 Deg F. but the sun is trying hard to get out.
Hope you are having a good weekend.
