Penicuik House

The barriers are down, the scaffolding removed and the ruin of Penicuik House has now been stabilised for the public to be allowed access for Doors Open Day.

As there are no internal floors remaining we wandered along at basement level trying to imagine the grandeur that was lost that fateful day in June 1899 when fire destroyed the house. We peered through the doorway beneath the elegant portico. My blip is through the rear doorway of the view to that front door and beyond to the driveway.
