Leaving Italy
What a day! 3 months on the mountain done. Cannot believe that it's passed. Slowly. Swear time got slower near the end though.
That bitter sweet moment though leaving the hotel. The family who run it are fantastic and I'll miss them. But then, I've been missing home like crazy.
But 3 months done! Still remember my first night here, the snow outside, and the snow cat cutting the cross country course. That snow is long gone now.
Pity that the Mercedes is being left in Italy, doesn't feel quite right to be leaving by trian and plane.
A member of the family took me to the station this morning where I boarded the Graffiti Express to Milan. Couldn't see out of the windows as there was so much graffiti on the windows. Graffiti needs to be a capital offense.
Bit of a headscratcher to the connection to the airport, but managed that ok.
Again, pity about having to take EasyJet. Much prefer to take a proper airline but booking late meant that I was getting no good deals. Ah well, put up with EasyJet for 90 minutes.
And again, time seems to slow when you're on EasyJet. 90 minutes of just wanting the flight to be over. AND WHY EXACTLY DO PEOPLE IN WINDOW SEATS - IMMEDIATELY CLOSE THE WINDOW BLIND??? f*&^*&^*&rs. We're flying over the Alps and the blind is closed!!!!
Ended up hiring a car when I landed. Got a little upgrade and then hammered it down to Devon. I love the A303.....until they closed it 25 miles outside Exeter. Just Great. Down lanes on the longest diversion known to man. At 11pm.
Made it to my parents just before midnight. Great drive all things considered.
Kinda missing my mountain though.
