Parador San Marcos
Tia José arrived in the morning and was given a long list of things to be done, and we whizzed out of the door to the airport. After a slightly shaky flight we landed on the clifftops of Asturia and were met by Ana, who had already driven for over two hours through the snowy mountinas. Another two hours back through the mountains. It was an exhausting drive as half of the road was snow bound. Ana is a Leonese Queen!
We dumped the bags at her flat and went out on the town to the 'Junta', more modern part of Leon. I was iniciated to the Leon way of tapas. Four beers or wine plus jamon or cheese with good bread etc. for 6 Euros. Four bars and you've eaten, but really well.
We had a quick walk (it was bitingly cold) round the Parador (Inn) which is a pretty smart place to stay. It's on the pilgrims' route to Santiago and is festooned with conch shells as a reminder.
