Milky Way over Lake Pukaki
We discovered that the skies had cleared about bedtime last night, after having checked about 3 times each during the evening! There was nothing else for it, all the camera gear and warm jackets were hauled out at about 10.30 pm or later and Optomist and I set out from Tekapo for Lake Pukaki and then back to Tekapo again to see what we could find. The stars were amazing. The moon rose very late so we had very dark black skies and very brilliant stars. So lucky! You'll be able to see Scorpio here, plus Sagittarius and the Southern Cross, and a little aurora glow on the horizon.
Thank you so much for sending yesterday's Aurora Glow over Mackenzie Country into the Spotlight No.1 spot. The 3rd day running? I can't believe it! All your fabulous comments and stars and hearts added up - I am amazed and grateful too. Please forgive the lack of commenting - I do hope to catch up, now that we've finally arrived back in Christchurch. In the meantime, many many thanks for all your support over the last three days.
