Paris: Patrick Blanc's "Aboukir Oasis"
Hymn to Biodiversity
This is a privately commissioned work, in central Paris (at the corner of rue d'Aboukir - rue des Petits Carreaux).
In 2013, 250 square metres of wall were planted with several thousand plants of 237 species and varieties. The plants now cover the eight windows in the wall, which are presumably used for watering and maintenance.
An awesome, breathtaking creation..... but without pruning it will not take many years before it has covered the whole of Paris.
