Varroa Day 1

First of a boring series but might mean something to apiarists.

For the first time used a varroa screen board. Only have two boards but two more on order to arrive in a few days.

Horryfing site but not all dots are mites! On the left there are few, on the right masses. Wonder colony still alive.

You would be surprised how much "rubbish" falls out. However over next two weeks there are some interesting results.

I guess for the bees, the varroa screen also means less housework as they would normally have to carry all this stuff out. More time for making honey!
