Meerkat on duty

Or, so it looks.

With the iconic stance of a meerkat sentinel, this little one was actually looking for the Zookeeper who was bringing their meal. The two little females at Natureland in Nelson know when their favourite mealie worms are due and get all excited waiting. Although their close up eyesight is not so good, they have extremely good distance sight and were able to spot the keeper at some distance.
