Time

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
you fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.

I must admit when our timepieces including LooseCanon's beauty which he blipped today are all wound up and ticking, it does sound a bit like the beginning of Pink Floyd's classic track.
I realise that the idea of winding up a timepiece is probably a bizarre concept if you're under about forty, but some of these old watches and clocks are things of mechanical beauty. They're probably not accurate to a tenth of a second in twelve trillion years , or whatever the boast is.
