They are digging up a perfectly good pavement and replacing it. It means that one lane is out of action and it takes twice as long to get to the traffic lights. Reaching 'the red fence' means I'll get through on the next phase but I was still a bit late getting to work this morning.

My first thought on seeing the sign was 'Coneheads'. An excellent film.
