Stopped off to pick up a sandwich this morning and the square was still in shadow while the sun was hitting the buildings above. The statue is the Nelson monument, heavy with symbolism. The four prisoners in chains represent captured sailors from Nelson's greatest battles, but perhaps also the suffering of the victims of slavery.
