Cloisters, Paisley Abbey, Scotland
My first visit to Paisley Abbey. You enter the Abbey through the Cloisters, and I knew I had my Blip even before I went inside. I liked the different designs on the columns.
The Abbey was founded in 1163 when Walter Fitzalan signed a charter at Fotheringay. The Cloisters were restored in 1914, and in 1980-81 a new timber ceiling was erected above the sanctuary. Since 1989 extensive restoration has been undertaken both on the building and in the surrounding Place.
A very helpful custodian pointed out various areas of photographic interest.
