Sledgehammer to crack a nut?

A JCB to cut owl shapes?

I've borrowed this router, to find out if it might assist me in cutting owls. I'm not convinced yet as routers (of the woodworking kind) are really designed for cutting bevels into wood rather than shape cutting. But I'll reserve my judgement until I've given it a go!
