Waiting……but little hope

Its now just over 3 weeks since the small tortoiseshell caterpillars pupated. I feel they should have emerged by now. There is no sign of life and the chrysalides are going dark and seem quite hard. They might have been parasitized or just not been healthy enough to metamorphose. I shall keep them a little longer before putting them outside.
