A Blip Of Two Halves
I hadn't realised it was an Edinburgh holiday today ... not sure if that affected the buses but I waited ages for one this morning and ended up getting a taxi to a meeting. Grey, drizzly and murky start to the morning. Didn't take a raincoat because I was optimistic (obviously hadn't checked out weather forecast) and thought the sun would appear. The sun didn't share or meet my optimism or expectation. All day meeting - well until 3.30. Brief meeting after that and then headed for a bus. Grey, drizzly and murky afternoon. Waited a while for a bus, considered walking but didn't have a raincoat (foolish) so stood at bus stop and blipped. Very murky view - couldn't see to the end of the street - weather aware people with raincoats and umbrellas in abundance. 4.30 - cars had their headlights on and the windows of the bus were steaming up. Quandary - meeting at 6.30. If I go home I won't want to go out again as I have hibernation tendencies when it feels like winter and it's a Monday. 5pm decision made - sat in a lovely Italian cafe/restaurant and looked out at the grey afternoon. Ordered bruschetta al pomodoro and mineral water (would have liked red wine) and then a coffee. No wifi (bliss) so read a book and looked at the reflections of the lights in the restaurant on the window against the trees. Lovely waiters who left me alone to ponder on the end of summer.
Now home and contemplating not much at all. Started off as a mono Monday and ended as a mellow Monday.
n.b. No swan entries for 5 days in a row. You just know that a swan or two will appear any day.
