Yes, We Have No Bananas!

For only the second time in 16 years, our banana tree has produced a bunch or two of the very same! They are not very big being of a Peruvian variety but it is always a shock and pleasure to see the large purple flower head appear like some alien and then open to reveal the fruit. I'm not sure why we've had them this year, perhaps because we gave the tree a lot longer before chopping it down to allow a baby tree replacement to sprout up from its large underground bulb.
