Mini Bunzini Soaks Up Some Rays

It was very chilly on Sunday night, and I admit that while I know that cottontails in general (even very little ones!) are hardy creatures, I worried about Mini Bunzini, the very young rabbit that we first spotted in our yard on Thursday evening.

But I needn't have worried. First thing Monday morning, I was feeding the cat, and I looked out the bedroom window to see not just one but TWO bunnies hopping along in the drive way. The tiny one was clearly Mini Bunzini (or Mini-B, as I've started calling him/her).

The other, I presumed to be its mama. They stayed close together and even chased each other a little bit. It had all the feel of a family that plays together. And so I smiled to myself, a bit less worried about the tiny rabbit now that I know it is not alone.

This was the scene later on Monday morning. The sun was shining, and it had warmed up quite a bit and turned into a lovely day. The yard was peaceful and quiet, as it generally is on most week days. And beneath the front hedge, half under it and half in the sun, sat Mini Bunzini, sometimes awake and sometimes dozing off, quite happily and contentedly soaking up some rays.

The song to accompany this peaceful, sunny image makes a perfect lullaby for a tiny bunny, napping in the sun. And it is also a classic John Denver tune, Sunshine on My Shoulders. :-)

If I had a day that I could give you,
I'd give to you a day just like today.
If I had a song that I could sing for you,
I'd sing a song to make you feel this way . . .
