Helvellyn Views

After a slow start to the morning and trying to avoid the showers of rain that occurred this morning, Rory and I ventured out for a walk up Helvellyn. I will admit, it was rather steep in comparison to what we normally hike up, but we caught up with and took over a group of backpacking walkers, so we musn't have been finding it too hard!

The sun came out just in time for lunch and as we were eating, we got to see low flying planes dipping and diving through the mountains. It's spectacular to see, the skill that it must take to be that confident in a plane, to fly so low is something that demands the respect of everyone.

The views from the top were incredible. This photo has to be credited to Rory as I only took my phone and my photos paled in comparison to his. However, the photo does not do the view or the scenery justice. The Lake District is quite possibly the most beautiful place I have ever been to!

We did however run into a slight problem upon completion of the walk, as the path to get back to the start point (and the car) was blocked off due to foresting works. This meant we either had to get the bus back to the starting point (which we weren't sure where it was) or walk along a busy main road with no pavement. In the end (and sheer fluke) we ended up getting the bus back and the lovely bus driver told us when we were to get off!
