Southern Magnolia Tree

Not in AZ but I managed to find another weird tree!
I'm in Virginia attending some meetings and managed to take a walk while I talked to my office on a break.

Magnolia trees are ancient in origin. Their beautiful flowers are huge in size. This photo captures their shiny leaves and their fruit that looks like a cone. The fruit contains their seeds so they are actually in the same group as conifers. Not ripe in the photo, the fruit will eventually split apart.

It was only in the low 70'sF here today- amazing!
I wish I could take this weather back to AZ- with the tree. :)
