Diamond rope, silver chain, pretty noose is pretty
If i were to tell someone who doesnt know anything about me one thing, I would first tell them about my unhealthy love for Soundgarden. If you didnt know, Soundgarden are a "grunge" band who formed in 1984 and are known as members of the Seattle four (Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden : the bands who gained the most publicity in the "90's" grunge scene). They have been my favorite band for... Quite some time.
On January 16, 2013 I actually seen them live from Terminal 5 in New York City. Honestly, it was the best day of my life and i shed tears just thinking about it, let alone telling the story. Being from the Tri-State Area, we all know how cold it can be during winter, but i just assumed it would be i dont know, a little less cold in the city? I was wrong. I stood outside the venue for 8 hours and really began getting chilled at the last 3 hours. When youre in line, excited for something and in the cold, time really slows down LET. ME. TELL. YOU.
Now, I read up on the venue since i've never been there before and i wasnt sure how things ran (for lack of a better term), and i was terrified. I read online that it was hot as he** and youre sweating whether its cold out or not. But i was still a little cold even after the show, it wasnt that bad haha.
But anyway, the doors finally opened and EVERYBODY rushed in. I made it to the front row (as i always do) and it was almost like a "pinch me im dreaming" moment... For some reason, i couldnt wrap my mind around the fact that i was actually there. When the guys walked on stage, i literally started hysterically crying.
Ya know how teenage girls act at the mentioning of Justin Bieber or One Direction? Thats me with Soundgarden... Its really pathetic, i know but i just cant help it!
Now, I've seen a nice amount of shows, but this was the first one i've been to at that point where people were crowd surfing left and right. There was even a guy standing behind me who looked like a clone of Justin Bieber; with his hands clenching the guard rail in front of me (arms around me and everything), but you know what? I didnt mind because when middle aged crowd surfers fell, they fell on him and not me, so i didnt say anything lol. Besides being crushed by middle aged men, i was being thrown up against the barricade and honestly, i thought i was somehow about to combust. With that being said, i'd rather be crushed and packed in a small venue than to be somewhere where everyone is just being bores. But thats just me.
The band played all of my favorite songs, all of their hits, and even played two songs (Dusty and Fresh Tendrils) for the first time ever live since the 90's which i thought was awesome! The crowd had an amazing energy, and i cant wait to go again.
I took video during the show and i can hear my voice in all of them, whether its my terrible and broken singing, or its just me screaming "OH MY GOD" repeatedly when Chris Cornell is hovering over me, and i cant even listen to the songs on my ipod without ghostly hearing my voice in them (if that makes any sense). Oh yeah, did i mention the fact that i had a play audition the day after? I literally didnt have a voice, everything hurt, and i could barely even walk.
So i finally came to the decision that i finally want to show my love for them and get a tattoo to commemerate my love for them. Although, i wanted something unusual, something that nobody else would have. Any soundgarden tattoo ive ever seen was the Badmotorfinger tribal logo, or maybe a Black Hole Sun lyric? No no no. I wanted something else. After listening to their album Down On the Upside, I came to the decision that i would get a Pretty Noose. How do you make a noose pretty? Add a big red bow! Not a lot of people like it, but i love it. I think its something i'll never get tired of seeing, and every time i look at it, i think of my crazy obsession with Soundgarden.
