Breaking the ice!

This is the induction week for students at a local university. The head of one of the sports departments decided to involve twenty of his new students in a sporting challenge to help them settle in and get to know each other before the semester began proper. They had already done cycling and jumping in the morning before taking part in a " mystery" sport in the afternoon. This involved coming to the ice rink for some coaching in curling, which is why these students are wearing shorts.
When I first saw them I thought they just being very "macho" as the ice rink is freezing (obviously). When I understood what had happened, I felt a wee bit sorry for them.

But they were up for the challenge and had a great time (or at least said they did).

Apologies for the poor quality of the shot. The ice rink only re-opened on Monday and the ice was particularly keen (slippy) and I was a bit nervous on it myself, hence the unsteady hands.
