Ada

You might wonder why I grow bananas in my garden. No chance of any fruit, but very useful for making ada , a south Indian dish. Rice flour is mixed with water to make a stiff dough the consistency of pastry. A little oil is put onto the leaf and a small ball of dough is squashed to make a flat circle . Brown sugar, cardamon and grated coconut mix is put onto the rice dough and then folded . The pasties in their banana leaves are steamed in a pressure cooker. Yummy !
