"AUTUMN COLOURS"

Autumn Colours at Rouken Glen Park in Giffnock which is one of the largest public parks in Scotland, covering 227 acres.

The park was given to the City of Glasgow in 1906 by Archibald Cameron (later Lord Rowallan) and has since become an integral part of community life in the area.
The park is now managed on a daily basis by East Renfrewshire Council.

The origins of Rouken Glen Park are steeped in the development of commerce and industry in the West of Scotland.

In 1530 James V presented the lands surrounding the "Rockandmyll" to Lord Eglington on the marriage of his son Hugh Montgomery. At the time of the bequest the lands were called "Birkenshaw" and Birkenshaw cottage stood not far from the mill on the Auldhouse Burn.
