The Ring of Brodgar dates from 2500 BC - it's always a good thing to stand somewhere that puts the trifling concerns of humankind into perspective...

Today, though, is surely a momentous day for most of us alive on this island nation(s). It was strange to spend it in such a peaceful place. We heard some heated discussions outside the polling station in Stromness but other than that everyone was just getting on with things. Which is what will happen, I'm sure, whichever way the cookie crumbles tomorrow.

Aside: just had a delicious shoulder of lamb from the exemplary Dounby Butcher.
