Celebration of Rain!

Finally, after almost 8 rainless months, the rains came. One day, but definitely needed. Many wildfires in California and the west as well as severe drought and dry dangerous conditions. We're not anywhere near out of the woods yet, but the sound of rain was a nice reminder and hopeful of things to come.

The fact that there are fresh blooms of Poppies is a good indicator of how dry it is. They are a native plant in California (the state flower), and usually bloom in early spring. This one seemed quite thirsty.
