Where is the partridge?
A quick visit to Vans market and a fond farewell to DS#1 and Charlotte A off on their (one-night) camping adventure.
We took the opportunity to visit our favourite nursery on our return. Why our favourite? All the plants we have brought there have survived to date - not always the case - and they usually give us a freebie as well as being very friendly.
There is one problem. "Do you have any pear trees?" I asked, albeit in my best French. Twenty minutes later I am still being instructed in the differences between the various varieties and this is even past that local bewitching hour of midi when all the locals should be sloping off to their extensive lunch.
Eventually we left laden with two Pear trees (different varieties of course), a Quince tree, two Gaura (our plant of the summer that after you buy one you start seeing everywhere) and a freebie ever-fruiting raspberry. A few hours later all are safely planted and we have an instant orchard already bedecked with fruit as you should be able to see in this (very bad) image.
