For the Bad Boys

These are the Illingworth (Nr. Halifax) Stocks dating from 1677.
Rather unusual in being 'double stocks' - there must have been lots of bad boys around the area.
They are located by the entrance to the local church (now disused), which would have given the miscreants maximum exposure to the Sunday churchgoers - which in those days was most of the local population.
I understand three hours in the stocks was offered as an alternative to a fine.
