The day after

I walked home this evening. All the way from the Ben Nevis Bar in Argyle Street to Anniesland. Nearly three miles. No mean feat for a lady my age, in heels and having had a few gins.

It was a lovely evening- mild, dry and calm. There were people sitting outside cafés and bars. The West End was lovely.

I was looking for remnants and mementos of the carnival atmosphere we'd experienced over the past few days in Glasgow. This was all I found. A wee poster on the side of the road. All the other flags and banners of the referendum had been taken down. How lovely and respectful. We're all in the business of getting on with life and each other.

But how sad I felt. Not for the first time today, I cried. 'Hope or fear'- I think we all know which won today.
