Diary of an Edinburgher

Sunshine!

A visitor this morning who hasn't seen Archie since he was a wee puppy. After being ignored for the first five minutes - Archie, not the visitor - he soon settles down and is so calm around them, they can't fail to be impressed with his good manners. Though he does go a bit crazy when they come to the door - scattering rugs all over the place in his rush to the window then to the door and back again at high speed. No barking though, which is good.

We took the bus along to Summerhall and had a very nice meal in the pub. The bar staff made a fuss of Archie and gave him a doggie biscuit. Then he got his treat - a big walk through the Meadows, where it was positively warm!

He met a couple of dogs, one was very playful and Arhcie chased her around for ages, then the tables turned, and she chased Archie, whose wee legs just weren't fast enough and he kept being caught and being (playfully) roughed up. He didn't like it, and was glad when we parted company with the big dog.

The sun is out! We haven't seen it for a week - the Haar has been hanging over us, perhaps in sympathy with the Yes voters who must be very disappointed now. I wonder if we did make the right decision not to go for independence, especially as we see the 'vows' starting to fall part already, as the Yes campaign predicted.

Big Changes are needed.
