Getting up

I've watched lots of cows give birth, and I am always amazed at how soon after being born, the calf tries to get on its feet.

I noticed this cow looking rather agitated after I came home from milking this morning. She was swishing her tail lots, rubbing her udder with her back legs, and generally not looking that comfortable. During breakfast, we noticed that the cow had the calf's front legs just sticking out. Not long after breakfast, I went outside to check on the cow, and she had just given birth. I got my camera, and stood there watching mum lick her baby, while the calf had many attempts getting onto its feet. Nature at its best.
