Rufford Abbey . . .

. . . we were heading for Hope - Derbyshire, and Ladybower, but when push came to shove it looked just a little too far, especially with my toe. We finally decided on Rufford Abbey as it ticked all the boxes.

Its the sort of place you'd rave about if you found it on holiday, but being on the doorstep its often overlooked.

We particularly enjoyed the Cellar with the long table of food where a monk was sitting. We joined him for a few photos . .which unfortunately turn a little silly . . . although to be fair he didn't seem to mind having bunny ears?
(well he was made of wax!?)
